Get Motivated. Stay Motivated.

”If we were to meet a year from now and you said ‘I’ve had the best year of my life’ what would you have done today to make that happen?”

This powerful and thought-provoking question was asked by Ryan Evans at his motivational talk in the Penarth Pier Pavilion on the 11th January 2019.

Titled ‘Get motivated. Stay motivated.’ his speech was centred around goal setting, motivation, dealing with set backs and inspiration. He pulled his many years of experience as a personal trainer and coach and talked about getting fit, weight-loss and nutrition, but we got a lot more out of it than that.

Ryans life has been extraordinary – full of extreme highs and extreme lows. His story was an emotional and heartbreaking one (I admit to shedding a few tears). He’s been through more than most people ever would in a lifetime yet here is a man, standing in front of a packed auditorium, sharing the toughest moments of his life looking strong, confident and happy. It was incredibly inspirational and really made me think about my own goals – what’s holding me back? What steps can I take to achieve them? If this guy can, I can too!

Towards the end of the night I took a look around the room, I could see excited and thoughtful faces and it was clear to me that they had been roused and were going through the same thought processes as I. Is it possible for a couple of hours in a cinema in a small town in South Wales to change the course of someones life? I don’t know, but what I do know is that there were probably 70-odd people who went home that night energised and inspired to make changes to help to push them closer to their goal – that is something incredibly special.

I want to say ‘Thank You’ to Ryan for inspiring me to make changes and aim for something higher and also for sharing your story – that took a lot of courage and grit.
